Our Story

Before using cinema cameras and making curated Instagram feeds (actually before social media even existed), we were just kids making DV tapes with our friends. We shot music videos in our bedrooms and backyards, cruised plazas and parks to film skate videos, and made an infamous superhero film called Adventures of Alligator Boy. May our dreams of joining the Marvel cinematic universe still come true.

Tim and Davis met on a highschool basketball court. Before Davis ever had a growth spurt, they swapped book reports for videos and converted VHS tapes to DVDs to afford camera gear. Greg and Tim were randomly paired to be freshmen roommates in college and started testing DIY lighting modifiers made out of cutting boards and bundt cake molds (it’s a real thing). Together, they all started photographing weddings and going on hikes around New Zealand. After college, Tim and Davis spent a year traveling to twelve countries, producing films to help support twelve non-profits.

Eventually, all of these life decisions brought them to Seattle, where Wondercamp was born.

Our Mission

connecting people to hearts.

We started Wondercamp because we had seen the power of telling a good story. The ability it has to challenge others to see a new perspective, and to change us by making us more compassionate, more humble, and more curious. More connected to our hearts.

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to meet friends and share stories from Indigenous communities in Alaska fighting for their land, to kids in Memphis experiencing the joy of rock climbing, daughters in India who have been exploited by sex trafficking, and families in Jordan who have become refugees from war. Through this we’ve learned the most important lesson as filmmakers: always put people first.

At its core, Wondercamp is special because it’s so much more than a production company to us. It’s a way to build friendships, to create change, to make us feel. It’s a mantra, a painting on Tim’s living room wall, a hashtag for a brief moment in time, and a reminder to spend time outside and watch the stars every now and then.

All to say, we’ve been making films for awhile and we’d like to keep it up. 💛

Our Team

We’re a small but mighty little family, each contributing in our unique ways to every project that comes our way. We tend to wear a lot of different hats (or helmets) but also know when to build out our crew with an incredible network of creatives we’ve cultivated over the years.

We’d like to say we’ll take care of everything but the kitchen sink, but we would probably take care of the sink if you ask us to.

Davis Goslin

Executive Producer // Team Manager

Davis is the smiley face of Wondercamp and gets the award for Person You’ll Most Likely Call When You Have A Flat Tire. He started his career as the classic 90’s AV kid that would help the teacher with the projector, but quickly turned himself into a Swiss army man of business, logistics, accounting, scheduling, and all things film production. If he’s not on a bike, he’s probably thinking about how things can be a little more efficient, or as he says, “dialed.”

Tim Kressin

Creative Director // Editor

Tim loves asking hard questions and eating good tacos. After giving up his dream to be a rollercoaster tycoon, Tim decided to take people on emotional rollercoasters through storytelling. He’s got a keen eye for detail on set while he looks for each beat to the story. And he enjoys long days in a dark cave, focused on putting the story together in the editing bay. Approaching nearly two decades of making films has Tim feeling like he’s just getting started.

Greg Balkin

DP // Producer

Strangers know Greg for his beard, but most people aren’t strangers to Greg for long. He’s got a reputation for meeting up with friends in whatever city or country he’s in at the moment. He’s a cinematographer who knows and cares deeply about how each shot tells the larger story. He’s carried a camera into rushing rivers and up 14,000ft peaks, but his short short summer thighs are still too dangerous for the public.

Abdul Kassamali

Producer

Abdul is the coolest former electrical engineer turned filmmaker you’ve ever met who also speaks Swahili. He officially joined the ‘WholesomeBois’ in 2020 with dreams of creating a documentary in Kenya, where he grew up. Any takers? On set, you’re likely to keep coming back to Abdul because a) he’ll get it done and b) he’ll get it done with the most sincere smile and laugh there ever was.

Makenna Wall

Assistant Editor

A big thumbs up is what you’ll most likely receive from Makenna any time you chat with her. Whether it’s about a weekend backpacking trip or finding the story within hours of interviews, Makenna is up to the challenge. When she’s not crushing it in the editing bay, she is either outside or taking care of her cat Cheerio, proving that any dog lover can have a change of heart.
